Charbydis is currently controlled by the Holy Terran Empire and has commercial hyperspace routes to Circe and Hardian. It also has a military hyperspace route to Boyne.
History
Charbydis is a federation border world along the edge of Bug inhabited planets. Possession of this planet between the bugs and the Earth Federation has changed hands several times. It was was most recently conquered by the Earth Federation in 2246 and has remained a human controlled planet until the current day.
Geography
Charbydis is a mineral abundant medium sized swamp world. There is a monsoon season that lasts four to five months out of the planet's sixteen month calendar year. While many parts of the planet have been devastated by the conflict between the Earth Federation and Bugs, there are still areas that have remained untouched. This has preserved a wide variety off wildlife which is considered very primative by Federation standards. The animals are mainly a wide variety of alien type reptiles with some exceeding the size of ancient dinosaurs from earth.
Demographics
This planet has a estimated population of thirty million. As with many planets that share a hyperspace route to bug infested worlds, this planet has a large military population surrounded by an even larger supportive civilian population. In addition, there is a large concentration off zoologists and biologists studying the alien ecosystems for academic purposes. Now that the planet has been under Federation control for nearly two decades, there is a movement by businessmen and women towards making the wildlife areas into massive tourist attractions.
